The TEMI Shearling Penny Loafer Mule is a cozier take on the mule: classic penny loafer detailing and Freda Salvador's iconic notched welt, lined throughout in super-soft shearling.

Your foot sinks into plush natural shearling while the smooth Italian calf leather upper keeps the look polished, so it feels like a slipper and reads like a loafer. The backless silhouette slips on and off easily, and a slight 3/4" flared heel adds a little lift.

Materials

Fabric: 100% Italian calf leather upper; 100% shearling lining
Made: Hand-sewn at Freda Salvador's family factory in San Salvador, El Salvador. Co-founder Cristina Palomo Nelson's grandfather first began making shoes there generations ago, and the hand-sewn loafers and moccasins are produced in a factory her father opened in the 1980s. It's one of the last hand-sewn moccasin factories in the world, where artisanal skill is passed down from generation to generation.
Sustainability: The calf leather comes from a Leather Working Group Gold-rated tannery, and the shearling is ethically sourced. Because shearling is a natural material, its color may vary slightly from pair to pair. Hand-sewn in small batches at a family-run factory, it's heritage craftsmanship and slow fashion you can feel.

Care

Polish the leather once a month to keep it clean, moisturized, durable, and elastic. Wipe dirt gently with a slightly damp soft cloth, or use a leather cleaner free of acid or detergent (test on a small area first). Professional cleaning by a cobbler is recommended. If you wear them often or in wet conditions, having a rubber sole professionally applied is recommended, and heel tabs can be replaced by a cobbler as they wear down. Store in a clean, dry place out of direct sunlight, and let shoes air dry after wear.

About Freda Salvador

Freda Salvador was founded in 2012 by best friends Cristina Palomo Nelson, a third-generation shoemaker, and Megan Papay, a former celebrity stylist at Calvin Klein.

From their base in Sausalito, California, they design elevated classics reimagined in the details, handcrafted in small batches by artisans at family-run factories in Spain, Italy, and in Cristina's own family factory in El Salvador.

They visit their tanneries in person twice a year, and the majority of their leathers come from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, making every pair a thoughtful investment in women's handmade, sustainably sourced footwear.
