Fit & Construction

• Measurements: Shaft height 11 1/2" (measured from the back); shaft circumference 14 5/8" at the widest point. Measurements taken from a size 7 and will scale with size.
• Construction details: Italian nappa leather lining, padded leather footbed, polished leather welt, and a rubber sole for added durability

Materials

Fabric: Shaft in 100% Italian suede; upper in Italian calf leather; lined in Italian nappa leather
Made: Handmade in Tuscany, Italy, at a small family-run factory that specializes in women's dress shoes. Opened in 1974 by a husband-and-wife duo, the factory is known for its exceptional attention to detail and technical skill, and for training young workers in the craft of Italian shoemaking.
Sustainability: The suede comes from a Leather Working Group Gold-rated tannery and the calf leather from a Leather Working Group Silver-rated tannery; the nappa lining is sourced from a Leather Working Group Approved Trader. Made in small batches by artisans, each pair is a quiet vote for slow fashion and ethically made footwear.

Care

Suede: Prevention is the best care. Treat with a water and stain guard (test on a small section first), keep out of direct sunlight for long periods, and if wet, soak up moisture with a clean towel, air dry, then brush the nap with a suede brush. Calf leather: Polish once a month; wipe dirt gently with a slightly damp soft cloth, or use a leather cleaner free of acid or detergent (test first). Professional cleaning by a cobbler is recommended. Store in a clean, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Freda Salvador was founded in 2012 by best friends Cristina Palomo Nelson, a third-generation shoemaker, and Megan Papay, a former celebrity stylist at Calvin Klein.

From their base in Sausalito, California, they design elevated classics reimagined in the details, handcrafted in small batches by artisans at family-run factories in Spain, Italy, and in Cristina's own family factory in El Salvador.

They visit their tanneries in person twice a year, and the majority of their leathers come from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, making every pair a thoughtful investment in women's handmade, sustainably sourced footwear.
