MATERIALS
Fabric: 100% Spanish leather in zebra haircalf.
Made: Hand-sewn in the family-run Freda Salvador factory in San Salvador, El Salvador — a factory founded by co-founder Cristina Palomo Nelson's grandfather, a third-generation shoemaker. It's one of the last hand-sewn moccasin factories in the world, where techniques are passed down generation to generation.
Sustainability: The Spanish leather comes from a tannery that is a Leather Working Group Approved Trader, an audit standard for environmental performance in leather manufacturing. As a small, female-founded brand, Freda Salvador produces in small batch, limited-edition runs through family-run, artisan-made footwear factories rather than mass production — a slow fashion, ethically made approach to luxury leather goods.
STYLED BY LADDER
Let the ELBA's zebra haircalf do the talking — pair it with a simple cashmere sweater and straight-leg trousers, or anchor a slip dress with a leather jacket for an easy day-to-night look.
ABOUT FREDA SALVADOR
Freda Salvador was founded in 2012 by best friends Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Papay — Cristina a third-generation shoemaker from a family of El Salvadoran artisans, Megan a former celebrity stylist for Calvin Klein. Based in Sausalito, California, the female-founded label produces its handcrafted footwear in small, family-run factories across El Salvador, Italy, and Spain, sourcing leather primarily from Leather Working Group certified tanneries. Every Freda Salvador style is made by hand using generations-old techniques, which means no two pairs are ever quite the same — a small batch, artisan-made approach to women's footwear built to live in your closet for years.
